Bill Hamilton

W.T. (Bill) Hamilton became the first full-time paid Executive Director of the CPGA in 1967. He was a 2-handicap golfer when he left his own business to become secretary-treasurer of the RCGA in 1948. His first term with the amateur body lasted 8 years at which point he went on to become Head Professional at Toronto’s Oakdale Golf Club. A highly respected figure in golf both in Canada and the United States, during his term with the CPGA, Labatt took over as sponsor of the CPGA Championship, oversaw the launch of the Peter Jackson Canadian Tour, and introduced a series of week-long annual business schools for the members. He returned to the RCGA in 1973 to manage its national tournaments.
